Noble awards embellish the great friendship between Vietnam –Laos and Vietnam–Cuba

On the occasion of the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces, the Ministry of Public Security held a solemn ceremony to receive prestigious medals from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Republic of Cuba presented to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and its leaders, on August 16, 2025.

The event was attended by Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security General Vilay Lakhamphong, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, Cuban Minister of the Interior Senior Lieutenant General Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casa, and Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.

On behalf of the Party and State of the Lao PDR, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Vilay Lakhamphong conferred the First-class Freedom Order (Itxala Order) on the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.

Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong confers First-class Freedom Order on the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.

He also presented the Lao First-class Freedom Order to Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang and the Second-class Freedom Order to Chairman of the Central  Inspection Commission Nguyen Duy Ngoc and Deputy Ministers of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To and Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung.

Furthermore, the Lao Third-class Freedom Order was awarded to Deputy Ministers of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam and Lieutenant General Dang Hong Duc while the Lao First-class Labor Order was presented to Senior Lieutenant General To An Xo, Assistant to the General Secretary and in charge of the Office of the General Secretary.

Cuban Minister of the Interior Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas presents the First-class “June 6” Order of the Republic of Cuba to Minister Luong Tam Quang.

Also at the ceremony, under the authority of the Cuban President, Cuban Minister of the Interior Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas presented the First-class “June 6” Order of the Republic of Cuba to Minister Luong Tam Quang and the First-class “Eliseo Reyes” Order of the Republic of Cuba to all of the Deputy Ministers of Public Security of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamphong and Cuban Minister of the Interior Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas warmly congratulated the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and its leaders on the noble honors.

They affirmed that the rewards reflect the Cuban State’s and Lao State’s recognition of the contributions of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces and its leaders to the relations and cooperation between the Vietnamese Public Security Forces and the Lao Public Security Forces and the Cuban law enforcement and security forces.

They also expressed their hope that the Vietnamese Public Security Forces will continue to stand side by side with their Cuban and Lao counterparts in safeguarding national security and development of each country, thereby contributing to strengthening the Vietnam–Laos friendship and Vietnam–Cuba friendship.

Expressing his deep gratitude to the Parties, States and peoples of Laos and Cuba, Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the noble medals, conferred on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces of Vietnam, reflects the Lao State’s and Cuban State’s high appreciation for the contributions of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces in consolidating and promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, as well as the traditional special friendship with Cuba.

Minister Luong Tam Quang pledged that the Vietnamese Public Security Forces will strive to live up to the noble recognitions, continue to foster the closer cooperation with the Lao Public Security Forces and the Cuban Ministry of the Interior in safeguarding national security and maintaining social order and safety, thus contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
