Phu Quoc Special Administrative Region to become a model unit of security, order and urban civilization

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung attended and delivered a keynote speech.

Following the directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, the An Giang Provincial Police Department, in August 2025, advised the Standing Board of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee to issue a resolution and the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee to promulgate a project on developing Phu Quoc Special Administrative Region into a model administrative unit of security, order and urban civilization.

After four months of implementation, the project has completed 4 out of 5 criteria for 2025, fulfilled 22 out of the 25 criteria for the regular annual plan, and achieved 31 out of the 48 targets set for 2026.

At the meeting, delegates frankly discussed remaining difficulties and obstacles, while proposing practical approaches to fulfill the remaining criteria of the project in the coming period.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung acknowledged and commended the results of the project implementation achieved by the An Giang Provincial Police Department and the Phu Quoc Special Administrative Region Police Station after four months.

The Deputy Minister requested the An Giang Provincial Police Department and the Phu Quoc Special Administrative Region Police Station to continue advising Party committees and authorities at all levels to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the Party’s viewpoints, guidelines and policies, as well as the State’s laws on ensuring security and order, crime prevention and control, and the building of urban civilization in the Special Region.

He also stressed the need to closely grasp situations in all fields, proactively prevent and promptly handle emerging issues, and avoid any strategic surprise in all circumstances.

At the same time, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung urged all local police units to effectively implement directives of the Politburo, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Public Security on science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, while continuing with the implementation of Project 06.
