Vietnam, Belarus strengthen security and law enforcement cooperation

At the talks, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that, following the first official visit to Belarus by General Secretary To Lam in May 2025, the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership has opened up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of security and law enforcement.

Regarding cooperation in recent years, Minister Luong Tam Quang noted that functional units of the two ministries have actively conducted joint activities, including information and experience sharing, training and capacity building of service dog handlers and joint investigations into crimes involving citizens of both countries.

In a the current complex global geopolitical and economic situation along with the multifaceted impacts of non-traditional security challenges, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides enhance delegation exchanges at all levels to share information and experiences in preventing and combating crime, especially organized crime, transnational crime, drug trafficking, high-tech crime and human trafficking.

The Minister also suggested expanding cooperation in professional training, capacity building of law enforcement officers, joint criminal investigations as well as join effort to track and arrest fugitives wanted by one country and hiding in the other.

During the talks, the two sides agreed not to allow any organization or individual to take advantage of one country’s territory to conduct sabotage acts against the other, as well as to ensure the security and safety of diplomatic missions, businesses, students and citizens legally working, doing business, studying and residing in each other’s country.

Belarusian Minister Ivan Vladimirovich Kubrakov sincerely thanked Minister Luong Tam Quang for the talks and extended congratulations to the Vietnamese Public Security Forces on the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces. 

He affirmed that cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has been growing strongly, particularly following Minister Luong Tam Quang’s visits to Belarus in September 2024 and May 2025.

He expressed his hope that the two ministries will continue to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, contributing to further deepening Vietnam–Belarus friendship and cooperation.
