Vietnam – Cuba Center for Medical Science Research and Application officially opens

The ceremony was also attended by Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.

Speaking at the event, Minister Luong Tam Quang highlighted that CIMEQ Hospital, under the Cuban Ministry of the Interior, is a leading medical institution renowned for its world-class achievements in medicine, while 19-8 Hospital of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security is a modern general hospital tasked with caring for health of officers, soldiers of the Public Security Forces as well as civilians.

The Minister underscored that the official launch of the joint center is not only a milestone for the medical sector of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces but also a vivid testament to the special friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba. 

He expressed his confidence that the center will serve as a bridge between the two sides, providing favorable for the two sides to research, apply and transfer advanced medical science products, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services for officers, enlistees and citizens of both countries.

The center will undertake joint research programs, apply advanced medical products, facilitate expert exchanges and technology transfer and facilitate the development of high-quality medical personnel. It will also help connect scientists and expand international cooperation in biomedicine, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang extended heartfelt thanks to the Party, State, Ministry of the Interior and people of Cuba for their special affection and wholehearted support for Vietnam in general and the People’s Public Security Forces in particular.

Expressing strong confidence in the long-standing Vietnam–Cuba solidarity, the Minister affirmed his belief that the Center for Medical Science Research and Application will operate effectively and bring about practical results, contributing to healthcare development in both nations while further consolidating the traditional friendship and cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cuban Ministry of the Interior.
