Dong Van police take drastic measures to prevent COVID-19

MPS - Since Ha Giang province witnessed the first case of COVID-19 infection (Patient 268) in Pho La commune, Dong Van district, the Dong Van District Police Station under the Ha Giang Provincial Department, in coordination with functional forces, has assigned its officers to work around the clock at various checkpoints, contributing to preventing the spread of the virus in the local community.

According to Colonel Dao Tuan Hung, Head of the Dong Van District Police Station, the local police have recently established the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control of the Dong Van District Police Station. In addition, they closely coordinated with local forces to instruct local people to take preventive measures against COVID-19.

The Dong Van district police also enhanced inspection and requested local restaurants and hotels to make lists of their customers as well as customers’ health and travel history reports. For those coming from epidemic-hit areas, the local police coordinated with the medical sector to check their body temperature and ask them for health declaration.

Following the detection of “Patient 268”, the local police officers and soldiers traced down all people who had contact with the patient so as to promptly take appropriate quarantine measures. So far, 69 people directly contacting the patient (F1) have been quarantined in concentrated camps while 325 people having close contact with F1(F2) and 523 people having close contact with F2 (F3) have been tested and are waiting for the results.

The Dong Van district police have also worked 24/24 at six key checkpoints around Pin Tung hamlet, Pho La commune to prevent the residents from going out of the quarantine locality.

In addition, the Dong Van District Police Department assigned two police officers with their influent command of ethnic language to a checkpoint set up at Pin Tung hamlet. The two police officers are responsible for explaining to local ethnics about the disease and self-quarantine regulations to avoid spreading the virus.

With the motto “four on the spot”, the local police officers and soldiers have been trying their best to fight the COVID-19 epidemic, contributing to soon bringing the life in the mountainous area back to normal.
