MPS, Korean National Police Agency committed to promoting comprehensive cooperation

MPS - Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang hosted talks with Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) Cho Ji Ho, on the morning of September 29th, in Hanoi.

Welcoming Commissioner General Cho Ji Ho to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (MPS), Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that the visit of the Commissioner General and the delegation of KNPA to Vietnam took place in the context of the Vietnam – the Republic of Korea (RoK) bilateral relations being at its best-ever stage of development, especially after the upgrading of the bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in December 2022.

The host revealed that, over the past time, the two police agencies enhanced delegation exchange as well as expanded cooperation at all levels and through all channels, especially bolstering cooperation in preventing and combating crimes as well as tracking and arresting wanted fugitives via cooperation channels, such as liaison teams and INTERPOL.

To tighten cooperation between the two police agencies, the two head delegates agreed to support each other at regional and international forums, further enhance delegation exchange at all levels as well as actively participate in international treaties and agreements on countering various types of crime, especially drug-related crimes.

The two police chiefs also reached consensus on promoting cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime, high-tech crime, drug-related crime, intellectual property violations and e-commercial violations, especially cooperation in tracking and arresting wanted fugitives via liaison teams.

The host also proposed that KNPA continue to support Vietnam’s MPS in implementing two projects on “Building forensic science capacity of Vietnamese police” and “Building capacity of Vietnamese traffic police force” in the 2025 – 2028 period, as well as organize training programs on law enforcement and foreign languages for Vietnamese police officers in RoK, especially those in charge of investigating high-tech crime and cybercrime, analyzing and recovering electronic data and evidence as well as Korean language.

In addition, the Vietnamese Minister suggested that the two sides should closely coordinated to ensure security and safety for one country’s citizens living, studying and working in the other country, while further promoting cultural and sports exchange as well as exchange between provincial-level police departments of the two countries.

Speaking at the talks, KNPA Commissioner General Cho Ji Ho believed that the cooperation between the two countries’ police forces will continue to develop in a close and effective manner, contributing to promoting the Vietnam – RoK comprehensive strategic partnership and bringing it to a new higher level in the coming time.

Commissioner General Cho Ji Ho wished the cooperation between Vietnam’s MPS and KNPA would continue to flourish in the coming time, and pledged that he will spare no effort to further promote the cooperation between the two police agencies, contributing to the cause of ensuring security and social order and safety of each country.
