The meeting also saw the presence of Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS).
Reports delivered by the National Steering Committee read that, by April 22, no new case of COVID-19 infection has been detected in Vietnam, so the total number of COVID-19 patients still remains 268, of which 202 have made a full recovery and have been given the all-clear while 52 are now being treated at nine medical facilities.

Since April 15 when 13 cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Ha Loi Hamlet, Me Linh District, Hanoi City, no new cases have been detected in the locality. The local police have set up 12 checkpoints around the hamlet to prevent the residents from going out of the quarantined locality. In addition, 74 medical teams have been established to check local people’s health twice a day. In Ha Giang, since Dong Van District witnessed the first case of COVID-19 infection (Patient 268), 358 people have been tested, and 302 have been negative for the virus while the remainders are waiting for the results.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recognized and highly appreciated the efforts of the Steering Committees, ministries, branches, and the people in preventing COVID-19 over the past time. The Prime Minister also requested them to continue to be on the alert against the virus.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son emphasized that, in the coming time, the Public Security Forces continue to attach importance to ensuring political security, social order and safety while actively fighting the pandemic. The relaxation of the social distancing regulations may lead to a more complex socio-political security and public order situation, so the Ministry of Public Security has directed public security agencies and units at all levels to implement various measures to control crimes.

According to the Deputy Minister, in the Vietnamese provinces bordering China, local people often travel between the two countries, causing numerous difficulties for forces responsible for COVID-19 prevention and control. Therefore, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son recommended Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to direct the local authorities to seriously maintain social order and security in their localities in the time to come.
