Prime Minister hails Ministry of Public Security’s effort in listing all those entering Vietnam

MPS - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on March 26 chaired a meeting of the Government's Standing members to discuss important approaches to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the coming time.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister officially banned any meetings of more than 20 people.

Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, stated that, under the orders of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Security, all public security units and agencies made the list of all Vietnamese and foreigners who entered Vietnam from March 7 but were not yet quarantined for 14 days. According to official statistics, 81,547 people entered the country since March 7-24. He believed that a large number of people will return to the country through the Vietnam-Cambodia and Vietnam-Laos borderlines in the coming time.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son, the increase in number of Vietnamese citizens returning from other countries will have negative impacts on the prevention and fight against COVID-19. He suggested enhancing information dissemination about the disease and mobilizing the people to make medical declarations and strictly follow quarantine regulations.

The Deputy Minister also proposed to strictly and promptly handle acts of undermining the epidemic prevention and control while encouraging concerned authorities to well perform their assigned tasks in the coming time.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the Ministry of Public Security for its good performance in listing all people entering Vietnam and reporting the figures to the Government and the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, contributing to successfully carrying out preventive measures against the disease.
