Minister Luong Tam Quang discusses cooperation with Kazakhstan’s Internal Affairs Minister

MPS - On May 6, 2025, Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang had talks with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov.

Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, is accompanying Party General Secretary To Lam on his State visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from May 5 to 7.

During the talks, the two ministers exchanged views on the political, socio-economic and security situations in their respective countries.

They both expressed high appreciation for the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan over the past three decades in various fields, including politics, diplomacy, trade, culture and tourism.

On that basis, Minister Luong Tam Quang believed that security and law enforcement cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan will also be elevated to an appropriate level, especially when the two nations have in common the strategic needs  for safeguarding national security, territorial sovereignty and social order for a peaceful, prosperous and stable society in each nation.

At the talks, the two ministers agreed upon a number of orientations to expand bilateral cooperation between the two ministries in the coming time.

Accordingly, the two sides will strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels to share information and hands-on experience in crime prevention and control, especially in combating organized crime, cybercrime, economic crimes, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

In addition, the two countries’ law enforcement forces will closely coordinate to investigate and handle transnational criminal cases, join efforts to arrest internationally wanted fugitives through bilateral mechanisms or INTERPOL channels, as well as promptly respond to each other’s requests for criminal verification and extradition.

Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment not to allow any organizations or individuals to take advantages of one country’s territory to conduct sabotage activities against the other.

In addition, the two head delegates pledged to ensure absolute security and safety of each country’s diplomatic missions and to join efforts to protect visits of top leaders of one country to the other as well as major political events in each country.

The two ministers agreed to effectively implement the existing cooperation agreements, including the Letter of Intent on Cooperation signed during this visit, through concrete steps.

They further committed to supporting each other at multilateral forums and international organizations, particularly those addressing non-traditional security threats, cybersecurity and counterterrorism.

On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang invited Minister Yerzhan Sadenov to attend Vietnam’s upcoming national celebrations in August 2025 as well as the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, expected to be held in Hanoi in October 2025.
