MPS strengthens international information security cooperation with Russian partners

MPS - At the invitation of the Security Council of Russia, a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Pham The Tung attended a consultation on international information security with a Russian delegation headed by Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Oleg Vladimirovich Khramov, on November 28th, in Moscow.

At the consultation, the two sides highly appreciated the close and regular coordination between the two countries as well as the mutual support for each other at international forums, contributing to ensuring legitimate security benefits of each country.

The two sides also maintained regular political dialogue at all levels in a practical manner to effectively implement the agreement between the two Governments on cooperation in ensuring international information security signed in 2018 and the plan on implementing key cooperation activities between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in ensuring international information security signed in 2020.

The Vietnamese sides affirmed that Vietnam always supports the building of a complete international legal framework on cyberspace, cybersecurity and cybercrime at multilateral forums on the United Nations (UN)-centered and consensus to promote international cooperation in a civilized and healthy cyberspace while ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of states, organizations and individuals.

Regarding the UN Convention against Cybercrime, the two sides believed that the convention would play an important role in promoting international cooperation in preventing and controlling cybercrime, meeting the needs of UN member states.

The two sides agreed that the convention helps strengthen the role of the UN in addressing global issues as well as raise the trust of the international community in multilateralism and international law.

The two sides also agreed to step up the signing of the convention in the coming time.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese head delegate stressed that Vietnam is willing to host the signing of the convention in 2025.

Within the framework of his visit to Russia, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung paid courtesy calls on Secretary of the Russian Security Council General Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoigu and Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Vasilievich Vershinin, and had meetings with leaders of the Russian law enforcement agencies.

At the meetings, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung and high-ranking Russian officials evaluated the regional and global situation and discussed issues of mutual concern, such as cooperation in ensuring cybersecurity and international information security, enhancing delegation exchange at all levels and providing mutual support for each other at international forums and cooperation mechanisms.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung and the delegation also visited the Vietnam Embassy in Russia.
