Vietnam and Mongolia promote ties

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security on October 16 had a meeting with a visiting high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs of Mongolia, led by its Minister Tsend Nyamdorj.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam held that the cooperation between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant agencies of Mongolia has gained various important results.

Particularly in 2013, the MPS of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs of Mongolia signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Crime Prevention and Combat, creating legal foundation for other cooperation activities in crime control between the two countries.

On that basis, both sides actively promoted information exchange on crime prevention and combat via diplomatic channels, INTERPOL or other multilateral cooperation mechanisms on prevention and fight against crimes, particularly drug-related crime, human trafficking or high-tech crime.

Minister To Lam suggested both sides consider establishing more cooperation mechanisms in security and crime control to share information of mutual concern; promote cooperation in protecting security and safety for senior delegations of each country during their visits to the other, diplomatic offices, diplomats, citizens and legitimate interests of each country in the other.

The visiting minister appreciated the close cooperation and mutual support of the two countries on the international stage, and emphasized that he would try his best to promote the bilateral ties between the two countries in general and between the two ministries in particular.

After the talk, the two ministers signed an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons between Vietnam and Mongolia.
