Vietnam, China co-hold dialogue on political security cooperation

MPS - The Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China co-held the 2nd Vietnam-China Deputy-Ministerial Dialogue on Political Security, on the afternoon of December 23rd, in Beijing, China

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To and Chinese Deputy Minister of Public Security Chen Siyuan co-chaired the dialogue.

At the dialogue, the two sides exchanged information regarding global and regional situations related to security and order protection in each country, evaluated the results of cooperation since the first dialogue, and put forth orientations for future cooperation in political security between the two Ministries of Public Security in the coming time.

The two sides shared the same view that the world sees significant, rapid, and unpredictable changes directly affecting the national security and interests of each country.

Accordingly, the two head delegates underlined that the two countries are facing several non-traditional security challenges, particularly terrorism, energy security issues, water security issues, food security issues and cybercrime, which requires both sides to closely coordinate to respond to and address the issues.

Meanwhile, the two sides maintained close coordination, exchanged information and actively advised leaders of the two Parties and States on approaches to address important issues affecting the national security and interests of each country.

The two sides closely coordinated to ensure absolute security and safety for visits of one country’s top leaders to the other country as well as protect legitimate rights and benefits of diplomatic missions, businesses and citizens of one country in the other country.

The police forces of the two countries also closely cooperated in preventing and combating all types of crime, such as cyber fraud, human trafficking and illegal entry and exit of one country’s citizens to the other country, while not allowing any organization or individual to take advantage of one country’s territory to carry out sabotage activities against the other country.

To continue the achievements in political security cooperation between the two countries, the two sides agreed to enhance exchange of information on regional and global issues of mutual concern, closely collaborate to prevent and combat high-tech crime, drug-related crime, terrorism and illegal entry and exit.

Additionally, the two sides pledged to expand cooperation in training and building capacity of law enforcement forces of each country, especially their capacity to control money laundering, deal with cybersecurity incidents, respond to cyber attacks and combat high-tech crime.

Within the framework of his visit to China, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To had meetings with Vice Governor and Head of the Public Security Bureau of Shaanxi Province Dai Binbin and Deputy Head of the Guangdong Public Security Bureau Tan Yongqiang.

During the meetings, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To informed the Chinese officials of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam’s achievements in performing its missions in recent times, and expressed his hope to expand cooperation between Vietnam’s provincial-level police departments and the public security bureaus of the Chinese localities in the coming time.
