According to statistics of the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Office of the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department, the province has seen 41 fire incidents in residential and business areas, killing 1 and causing losses worth 6.867 billion Dongs in the first 6 months of 2019. Major causes were identified that some areas lacked fire prevention and fighting systems; traffic infrastructure in residential areas was in a poor condition; water supply for fire fighting was insufficient; and people were still not very awareness of fire prevention and safety.

Against this backdrop, the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Office of Dien Bien developed plans to promote fire prevention and fighting work in residential areas.The unit coordinated closely with the local Party organizations and authorities to enhance information and education on fire prevention and fighting, instruct local people and forces to safely use electric and gas devices and to take safety measures and escaping skills in cases of fire and explosion.

The Fire Police of Dien Bien also promoted inspection of fire prevention and safety at populous areas, tall apartment and office buildings as well as business and production sites. During the inspections, they pointed to shortcomings in fire prevention and fire safety violations, and asked violating organizations, households and individuals to fix the issues.

The unit also conducted training course on firefighting skills and strategies for local fire police officers to meet the requirements of the job while seriously maintaining forces and means ready 24/24 for possible fire cases, contributing to minimizing losses cased by fire and ensuring security and order in the area.
