MPS Spokesman clarify responsibility of citizens for posting information in cyberspace

MPS - On January 8th, at the Government’s regular press conference, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and MPS Spokesman, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, answered press queries about false information circulating on social media.

Regarding the information related to the leadership of the Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB) posted on social media groups in recent days, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen affirmed that the information has not been verified. He noted that the posting of unreliable information in cyberspace is a very concerning issue, and that there are quite a few cyber questions to be solved.

The MPS Spokesman underscored that an act of posting false or fake information in cyberspace can be subject to administrative or criminal penalties.

Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen stated that the police have not yet received any reports from the concerned parties. Upon receiving petitions from the parties, the police will embark on the case and handle the offenders in accordance with legal regulations.

Regarding the deployment of the VNeID application, the MPS Spokesman voiced that, thanks to the great effort of the entire Public Security Forces, MPS has successfully developed and run an accurate, sufficient, verified and updated population database.

Based on the Government’s Project 06, MPS has developed and launched the VNeID application, which serves as an electronic personal profile of each citizen. To date, the VNeID application has amassed more than 83.5 million registered accounts.

Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen underlined that MPS will continue to enhance the quality of existing services as well as add more utilities to the VNeID application, ensuring that the VNeID application will become more user-friendly and provide practical benefits for citizens, in the future.
