New regulations on e-visa validity create favorable conditions for foreigners to enter Vietnam

MPS - The Government issued Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP, on August 14, 2023, on applying electronic visas to citizens of countries and territories, and accepting foreigners with e-vias to to enter and exit Vietnam at international border gates. The resolution also stipulates the procedures for the issuance of electronic visas for foreigners who want to enter Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Entry and Exit of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam (Law No. 23) was promulgated along with a number of new and outstanding policies in the field of management of entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.

Indeed, it further facilitates foreigners entering Vietnam by extending the electronic visa validity period from 30 days to 90 days and permitting the use of the e-visa one or more times during its validity period.

The procedures for foreigners to apply for electronic visas to enter Vietnam are totally performed online with the support of the highest level of the online public service, which has clearly demonstrated the Vietnamese Government’s strong administrative reform and simplification of administrative procedures, creating most favorable coditions for foreigners to get visas to the country. 

In fact, foreigners can now apply for electronic visas on their own without either invitation or other document verified and guaranteed by agencies, organizations or individuals in the country.

Therefore, foreigners who have not been to Vietnam and have not had any relations in the country before can easily apply for e-visas to the country for legal purposes, including market survey, marketing, tourism and so on, by visiting the electronic visa website at https://evisa.immigration.gov.vn.

The entire process from applying for an electronic visa to paying fees for the visa and receiving the e-visa is done online. 

However, foreigners should access the above website, carefully read the information, correctly fill in the application form for an electronic visa, upload the correct photos of the applicant and the passport identification page while avoiding declaring wrong information to get e-visas.
