Ninh Khanh Prison announces President’s 2024 amnesty decision to eligible inmates

MPS - Member of the Politburo and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Chairman of the Central Advisory Council on Amnesty attended a ceremony to announce the President’s 2024 amnesty decision at the Ninh Khanh Prison under the Police Department of Prison, Correctional Center and Juvenile Reformatory Management, on October 1st, in Ninh Binh.

The amnesty policy on national major events and holidays demonstrates the traditional humanity of the country as well as the Party and State’s lenient policies for sentenced persons, contributing to protecting and promoting human rights. It also aims to create favorable conditions for prisoners who have well served their sentence to correct their mistakes, reintegrate into society and become good citizens.

Accordingly, the work of considering and listing prison inmates eligible for amnesty in 2024 has been carried out in an open-door, democratic, objective, fair manner, according to the laws and regulations, while leaving no negative impact on social security and order.

On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the National Day and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi Capital, at the request of the Central Advisory Council on Amnesty, on September 29th, 2024, the President signed Decision No.957/QD-CTN on amnesty for prisoners and persons with their temporarily suspended sentences, in 2024.

96 inmates serving their sentences at the Ninh Khanh Prison have benefited the 2024 pardon decision.

At the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen handed over amnesty certificates to the 96 amnesty beneficial inmates.

The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister also praised the Ministry of Public Security for the successful fulfillment of its functions as the standing agency and advisor to the Central Advisory Council on Amnesty, while applauding the concerted effort of other ministries, branches and localities during the implementation of the President’s decision on amnesty.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh requested that all branches, localities, social organizations, businesses, individuals and relatives of the pardoned inmates should open their hearts to the ex-offenders, and create favorable conditions for them to soon reintegrate into society and have a new happy life.
