Over the past 6 months, the Institute on Criminal Sciences has directed the whole criminal forensic science force of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to well implement its assigned tasks. Particularly, the force received and solved 83,290 requests on professional issues from police units in the first half of 2019. These included 34,578 scene examinations, 48,399 forensic tests and 313 criminal technique-intensive tests.

In addition, the force continuously improved the quality of its scene examination while the rate of the found traces directly supporting the investigation was increased. In fact, the criminal forensic science force actively and effectively supported investigation police agencies at all levels in finding traces and evidence in criminal cases, especially difficult and complicated cases as the force’s professional capacity was improved step by step. Many provincial and municipal police units have expanded new areas of the criminal forensic science and have been largely based on the results of forensic examinations and tests in investigating criminal cases.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong praised the achievements gained by the criminal forensic science force in recent years. He also asked leaders of under-ministerial police agencies and local police units to invest more in the criminal forensic science force in terms of both equipment and personnel, particularly newly established forensic teams at the district level.
The Deputy Minister urged the Criminal Sciences Institute to promote research and application of technologies into crime prevention and combat.
