
According to reports at the conference, the economic police sector has taken measures to effectively prevent and curb corruption, smuggling and economic crimes; investigated various major cases in key areas; actively coordinated with judicial agencies to ensure the investigation progress of cases, especially cases under the direction of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-corruption.
The economic police force has successfully fulfilled all given tasks in the first 6 months of 2019. In particular, the force investigated 9,948 cases, including 1,139 smuggling cases, 2,733 cases of smuggling forbidden goods or illegally transporting goods and banknotes cross the border; and 289 cases of counterfeit goods. They has also detected and handled 13,932 environmental cases, investigated and handled 320 people involved in 168 cases of power abuse and corruption.

Speaking at the conference, Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Director of the Police Department for Economic Crimes, asked all officers and soldiers of the force to always try to improve their professional expertise and skills to fulfil all given tasks in the new situations.
Regarding its main tasks in the coming time, General Ngoc said, economic police force accelerate investigation and recovery of assets related to corruption cases under the laws; promote the information exchange and coordination with Central and local judicial bodies in investigating, prosecuting and judging corruption, economic and smuggling cases; promote international cooperation in preventing and combating crimes.
