According to reports delivered at the event, security and order at almost all prisons, compulsory re-education centers and reformatories had been well maintained in the first 6 months of 2019.
Education programs for prisoners have been innovated and become more appropriate and more effective; as a result, the number of prisoners violating prison rules declined while the number of prisoners and detainees who earned reduction of detention time for their good service and received rewards for their good service in prison increased. Benefits and policies for prisoners at prisons and students at compulsory education centers were fully and properly implemented in line with the laws. In addition, the Party and force building and inspection work were conducted regularly by prisons’ staff under the direction of leaders of the Department.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son appreciated the efforts and achievements made by the Department in the first 6 months of 2019 and asked them to have plans to effectively implement all given tasks.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son also emphasized that the staff of all prisons and compulsory education centers must seriously observe the laws. He encouraged the Department to actively coordinate with other relevant agencies and units to make recommendations on criminal sentence execution with the aim to perfect the legal system, promote its role as a think-tank, research projects and training activities, and synchronously and effectively use its managed facilities, equipment and means to serve its operation.
