Division for Protection of Major Events and International Guests honored with “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title

The Security Guard Command under the Ministry of Public Security held a grand ceremony to receive the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” conferred upon its Division for Protection of Major Events and International Guests, on the afternoon of August 18, 2026.

Distinguished delegates to the ceremony were Member of the Politburo and Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Gia Tuc; Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and Vice State President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Member of the CPV Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen; Member of the CPV Central Committee and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung.

Inheriting and promoting the traditions of previous generations of guard officers, through nearly 60 years of construction, combat and growth, the Division for Protection of Major Events and International Guests has continuously innovated and matured in all aspects. From 2016 to the present alone, the Division has ensured absolute security and safety for nearly 1,300 major domestic and international political events, and provided security for more than 750 international delegations, including numerous heads of state from Vietnam's key partner nations.

In recognition of these remarkable exploits and achievements across generations of officers and soldiers, the Division has been honored by the Party and State with two Feat of Arms Orders, two Fatherland Protection Orders, and many other noble awards.

Most notably, on July 9, 2026, the State President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed a decision conferring the title of "Hero of the People’s Armed Forces" on the Division for Protection of Major Events and International Guests.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of Party and State leaders, Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan warmly congratulated and commended the exceptionally outstanding achievements and feats of the Division.

The Vice State President requested the Guard Police Command in general, and the Division for Protection of Major Events and International Guests in particular, to continue building a truly revolutionary, regular, elite and modern Guard Police Force that is absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the People.

For the Division specifically, she emphasized equipping officers with essential soft skills, including foreign languages, diplomatic protocol, cultural awareness and international law, as well as joint operational and situational handling skills in international environments.

Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan stressed the importance of strongly innovating mindsets, methods, and protective security measures toward proactive prevention, identification, forecasting, management, and neutralization of risks "from early on and from afar." She called for accelerating innovation, applying science, technology, and digital transformation in security protection, and progressively mastering modern equipment and technologies.
