Minister Luong Tam Quang receives newly accredited Japanese Ambassador

MPS - Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with newly-accredited Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Ito Naoki on the afternoon of July 3rd, in Hanoi.

At the meeting, on behalf of leaders of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister Luong Tam Quang warmly welcomed Ambassador Ito Naoki and wished him great success in his working tenure in Vietnam.

Minister Luong Tam Quang highlighted that the Vietnam - Japan partnership is considered to be at the best stage since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973, with the upgrading of ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the World in last November.

Based on the blossoming friendship between the two countries, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Japanese law enforcement agencies has also witnessed positive results with numerous cooperation mechanisms, notably the Vietnam - Japan Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue mechanism.

To further promote the Vietnam – Japan bilateral relationship in the coming time, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides should further enhance exchange of information on the region and and other information of mutual concern, as well as improve the quality of exchanged information, while expanding cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity, maritime security and other fields of traditional and non-traditional security.

Minister Luong Tam Quang also underlined that the two sides shoud expand cooperation in preventing and fighting high-tech crimes, drug-related crimes, human trafficking and  other types of crimes, while collaborating with each other in reducing the number of Vietnamese citizens committing crimes and violating laws and regulations in Japan.

The Vietnamese Minister of Public Security also proposed that the two sides study, negotiate and sign an agreement on extradition, as well as promote cooperation among local-level police departments, so as to boost the effectiveness of crime prevention and fight in both countries.

Minister Luong Tam Quang also took this occasion to wish the Japanese side to support the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam with ships, aircraft and other types of equipment used for firefighting and rescue in the coming time.

Sincerely thanking Minister Luong Tam Quang for the reception, Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that, as the new Japan Ambassador to Vietnam, he will spare no effort to promote the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in general and between Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Japan law enforcement agencies in particular, contributing to the work of safeguarding security and ensuring social order of both countries.
