Ministry Public Security of Vietnam and Japanese National Police Agency agree to expand cooperation

After the talks, Minister To Lam met with former Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, Deputy Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Kobayashi Fumiaki and some important figures.
At the meeting, Minister To Lam and Mr. Tsuyuki Yasuhiro affirmed, along with the development of the Vietnam - Japan extensive strategic partnership, cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the National Police Agency of Japan has achieved many positive and important results in recent years.

The two sides shared information, exchanged working experiences and cooperated in the fields of science and technology to be of service to crime prevention and combat, and coordinated in preventing and fighting transnational crimes while effectively coordinating in protecting the security and safety of agencies, businesses and citizens of one country in the other country.
Since 2014, the two sides have coordinated to organize seven editions of the Vietnam - Japan Security Dialogue at the deputy ministerial level, and exchanged many important and strategic contents related to the security situation in the region and the world.

In the coming time, the two sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of high-level delegations, maintain the annual Vietnam - Japan Deputy-Ministerial Security Dialogue, share information and experience in ensuring security, fighting against transnational crimes, crimes using high technology, cybercrimes, illicit drug trafficking, and coordinate in preventing and fighting crimes committed by Vietnamese in Japan and vice versa.
The two sides also agreed to consider setting a new cooperation mechanism between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Japanese National Police Agency.
The two sides expressed delight that they had successfully protected citizens of one country living in the other while creating favorable conditions for businesses and citizens of one country to work and study in the other and ensuring safety of events and high-level delegations of one country visiting the other as well as activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in 2023.
