Minister Luong Tam Quang proposes approaches to control posting of fake, malicious information in cyberspace

MPS - Within the framework of its 8th plenary session, the National Assembly (NA) conducted a question-and-answer session on a number of issues related to the field of information and communications, on the afternoon of November 12th, at the NA House.

During the session, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang answered queries raised by NA deputies regarding the work of handling the act of posting fake, false and malicious information on social networks.

The Minister underlined that fake and false news causes many serious consequences to society, and threatens sustainable socio-economic development as well as sovereignty of countries and global security.

Regarding key solutions, Minister Luong Tam Quang said that competent agencies should thoroughly grasp the situation, effectively prevent and strictly handle all violations as origins of social disorder in cyberspace according to the laws.

Secondly, the Minister stressed the need to effectively rebut reactionary and hostile views as well as fake, false and malicious information in cyberspace, while enhancing information and orientation of public opinion, and raising the vigilance of people, especially social network users so as to improve their resistance to fake, false and malicious information, especially distorted provocative information.

In addition, Minister Luong Tam Quang also revealed that the Ministry of Public Security had strengthened international cooperation with international partners on in crime prevention and control, including fight against fake and false information in cyberspace.

The minister said, at recent meetings between leaders of the Ministry of public Security of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of other countries, the two sides always have reached consensus on the principle of not allowing any organizations and individuals to spread fake, false and malicious information threatening national security, social order and safety of each country or badly affecting other organizations and citizens of each country.
