Tra Vinh police destroy thousands of weapons, explosives and combat gear

MPS - On the morning of June 16, the Tra Vinh Provincial Police Department destroyed more than 1,500 weapons, explosives and pieces of combat gear that agencies, organizations and citizens had given up to the police, as well as the police had seized from cases of administrative violations.

In recent times, the Tra Vinh police force has actively implemented various measures to detect and handle violations related to the illegal use and storage of weapons, explosives and combat gear.

Thanks to law dissemination campaigns launched by the local police, agencies, businesses and residents have voluntarily surrendered hundreds of firearms, homemade weapons and combat gear to the police.

According to statistics, since the beginning of 2025 to date, the Tra Vinh Provincial Police Department has collected 9 military-grade weapons, 21 homemade guns, 246 rounds of ammunition and 134 rudimentary weapons voluntarily given up to the police by organizations and people in the province.

In this round, the police destroyed a total of 1,573 items, including weapons, explosives and combat gear, of which 1,235 were rudimentary weapons.

Meanwhile, the Tra Vinh Provincial Police Department handed over more than 21,971 rounds of military and other kinds of ammunition, as well as 867 military-grade weapons, to the Tra Vinh Provincial Military Command for destruction in accordance with its responsibility.

The destruction of these weapons and related items aims to raise the public awareness of the importance of the State management of weapons, explosives and combat gear, and made a call for agencies, organizations and individuals to proactively voluntarily hand over their illegally-stored weapons to the local authority.

The local police’s constant effort to mobilize organizations and people to give up illegally-stored weapons and explosives contributes to maintaining social order and safety and preventing illegal production, possession, transportation, use or trade of weapons, explosives and combat gear in the province.
