Earlier, at 6 a.m. on the morning of September 10th, local people heard a very loud noise from the hillside nearby, then quick flash floods with huge amounts of water, soil and rock hit the village, burying and sweeping away a number of homes in Lang Nu village. According to statistics, Lang Nu village has 176 households with a total of 760 people, of which 37 households with 154 people were victims of the landslide.
Immediately after the landslide, the Lao Cai Provincial Police Department mobilized forces and means to rush to the scene in an attempt to search for the victims.
However, the road network in the province in general and the roads leading to the village in particular had been blocked by landslides and floods.

In fact, Bao Yen district had been almost isolated without electricity and phone signal.
The situation had made it very difficult for the rescue police team to approach the scene, so they had had to walk through tough terrain for long hours.
At 3 p.m. on the same day, the rescue police force finally reached the scene and began search and rescue activities.
