Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang attended the opening ceremony of the tournament.
The event also welcomed 20 ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Vietnam, alongside nearly 10,000 soccer fans at the stadium.
Organized by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam, the ASEAN Police Football Open 2025 is held in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 – 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the “All People Protecting National Security” Festival (August 19, 2005 – 2025).

The tournament brought together eight teams from seven countries, including five ASEAN nations, one guest team from outside the region (Australia) and two teams from the host country.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang warmly welcomed all distinguished guests, delegates and international friends attending the MPS-hosted ASEAN Police Football Open 2025.
The Minister emphasized that the tournament was organized to enhance mutual understanding and friendship among nations, especially between Vietnam and its international partners and to strengthen cooperation among police and security forces in maintaining social order and combating transnational crime for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world, via soccer’s features of teamwork, solidarity, discipline and strength.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his belief that the tournament, with the spirit of “Solidarity – Integrity – Nobility”, would be a big success, featuring exciting matches and great sportsmanship, so as to leave a deep impression on spectators as well as to display the unity and close cooperation among participating police and security forces across the region and the world.
As part of the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister Luong Tam Quang presented flowers and commemorative flags to the heads of the eight participating teams.
