Minister Luong Tam Quang pays courtesy visit to Lao Vice President

MPS - Within the framework of his working trip to Laos, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, paid a courtesy call on Member of the Politburo, Permanent Member of the Party Secretariat and Vice President of Laos Bounthong Chitmany on the afternoon of July 30, in Vientiane.

The meeting was also attended by Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos General Vilay Lakhamphong and Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Bounthong Chitmany warmly welcomed and highly appreciated the visit of Minister Luong Tam Quang to Laos, affirming that the visit would significantly contribute to the strengthening of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two States, the two peoples and particularly between the two Ministries of Public Security.

The Lao Vice President spoke highly of the cooperation between the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Public Security in recent years, especially in ensuring national security, combating crime and jointly implementing key projects.

He expressed his hope that both sides would continue to maintain close coordination in the fight against transnational crime, human trafficking, drug-related offenses and cybercrime, as well as in training and capacity-building of Lao law enforcement personnel.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed gratitude for the warm reception and sincere sentiments extended by the Lao Party and State leaders to the Vietnamese delegation, and congratulated the Lao Party, State and people on their important achievements gained over more than 40 years of renovation.

The Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people, particularly the Ministry of Public Security, always attach great importance to promoting relations with Laos and stand ready to support the Lao Ministry of Public Security in safeguarding national security and maintaining social order and safety.

Minister Luong Tam Quang underscored that security cooperation remains a solid pillar of the bilateral relationship, emphasizing that the two ministries regularly share information, support each other at international forums and coordinate effectively in combating various types of crime, particularly cybercrime, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

He further noted that, during his ongoing working trip, he and Minister Vilay Lakhamphong participated in a series of meaningful cooperation activities, including the inauguration of the Drug Rehabilitation Center in Vientiane province, the launch of the Lao Citizen ID Card Production System and the handover of equipment and vehicles for law enforcement purposes to the Lao Ministry of Public Security, saying that the activities vividly reflected the increasingly close, trustworthy and effective cooperation between the two ministries.
