Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department’s Counter-Narcotics Division receives “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title

MPS - On behalf of the State President, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang presented the noble title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” to the Counter-Narcotics Police Division under the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department on the afternoon of July 31 in Thanh Hoa province.

The ceremony was attended by Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Doan Anh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Lai The Nguyen and Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Do Minh Tuan.

Over the past 27 years of development, the Counter-Narcotics Police Division of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department has affirmed its role as the core and leading force in combating drug-related crimes across the province.

With strong political will, dedication, bravery and an unyielding revolutionary spirit in the fight against crime, the division has achieved numerous outstanding accomplishments, highly recognized by the Ministry of Public Security, as well as by local Party committees and authorities.

As the principal force, the division has established a “three-layer counter-drug-trafficking system” to stop drugs from trafficking across the Thanh Hoa–Houaphanh border into the country.

In addition to disrupting the drug supply, the division has also taken comprehensive measures to reduce the local drug demand through practical, in-depth and innovative legal dissemination approaches.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang commended and congratulated the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department, particularly the Counter-Narcotics Police Division, on their remarkable achievements over the years.

He emphasized that the noble title is a recognition of the relentless efforts and silent sacrifices made by generations of officers and enlistees of the division throughout 27 years on the frontlines of drug crime prevention and control.

Taking the chance, Minister Luong Tam Quang requested that the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Force continue to proactively grasp the situation and promptly address complex issues related to security and order, particularly during the implementation of the two-tier local government model and other key projects.

He also called on the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department to ensure security and order along key routes and strategic areas, while stepping up the fight against complex crimes, such as drug-related offenses, organized crime, loan sharking and cybercrime, contributing to safeguarding national security and maintaining social order in all circumstances.

The Minister further urged the Counter-Narcotics Police Division to uphold its glorious traditions and continue playing a pivotal role in the fight against drug-related crime, stressing the need to proactively dismantle major transnational drug trafficking networks and effectively implement the National Drug Prevention and Control Program through 2030.
