Entire society requested to join hands in combating human trafficking

MPS - The Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Vietnam Women’s Union, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the People’s Committee of Hue City held a launching ceremony for the campaign “Joining Hands to Combat Human Trafficking” on July 31, in Hue City.

The event, themed “Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End Exploitation Now,” was held in response to the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and the National Day Against Human Trafficking 2025.

Member of the Politburo and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh attended and delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony.

The event saw the presence of various high-ranking officials including Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Quoc Doan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen, and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet.

Delivering the opening remarks, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that, in recent years, amid an increasingly complex global and regional landscape of human trafficking, criminal organizations have expanded their traditional targets of women and children to men, employed increasingly sophisticated methods and organized cross-border networks, and high-tech platforms to commit their crimes.

The Deputy Minister underscored that, thanks to the sound leadership of the Party and the State and strong coordination across the political system, Vietnam’s anti-human trafficking efforts have yielded significant results over the past time.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highlighted that, as a core force in this field, the Public Security Forces have uncovered and investigated hundreds of human trafficking cases, dismantled interprovincial and transnational trafficking rings, and rescued thousands of victims.

The Ministry of Public Security had also cooperated closely with ministries, sectors and international organizations to enhance its capacity to improve legislation, to fight the crime and support victims, he added.

In his keynote speech, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that human trafficking will continue to pose complex challenges in the country and in the world.

He urged ministries, branches, agencies and the entire society to effectively implement the tasks and solutions set out by the Party and the Government, and actively respond to the 2025 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons theme, “Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End Exploitation Now” by taking strong and effective action against trafficking in persons.

The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister called on all levels of authorities, sectors, communities and people to raise their awareness of anti-trafficking in persons, and actively join hands in the fight against human trafficking, stressing that Vietnam is firmly committed to removing human trafficking from all aspects of society.
