Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Hong Kong Security Bureau (China) sign deal on immigration
MPS - Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang received a delegation of the Hong Kong Security Bureau (China) led by Secretary Tang Ping-keung, who was on a visit to Viet Nam, on the morning of August 28, in Hanoi.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang said that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the law enforcement force of Hong Kong still has a lot of potential for cooperation on the basis of the similar functions of the Hong Kong Hong Kong Security Bureau and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
The host pointed out a number of responsibilities that agencies and units under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Hong Kong Security Bureau have in common, including maintaining public order and security, managing immigration and detention facilities, fighting crime, and performing fire and rescue operations.

In order to expand bilateral law enforcement cooperation, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that the two sides step up negotiations and sign agreement on anti-crime cooperation to create a legal basis for further bilateral cooperation in combating economic crime, illicit drug trafficking and high-tech crime, as well as assisting each other in arresting wanted fugitives and setting up a hotline to directly exchange information.
Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang also suggested the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Immigration Office under the Hong Kong Security Bureau effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on information exchange and cooperation in immigration management in the spirit of frankness, for mutual benefits and for practical results.

Sincerely thanking Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting, Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung affirmed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is the first step in the process of expanding the bilateral cooperation between the two sides.
He expressed his hope that relations and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Hong Kong Security Bureau will continue to develop stronger, thereby contributing to ensuring security, social order and safety in Hongkong (China) and Vietnam.
