This year’s ASEANAPOL has drawn the participation of some 300 delegates of police forces from the 10 ASEAN member countries, as well as the Secretariat of the ASEANAPOL, 9 partner countries and organizations, namely Australia, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia, Turkey, the Secretariat of ASEAN and INTERPOL.
Within the framework of the three-day conference, there have been 2 plenary and group sessions, in which delegates focused their discussion on promoting cooperation in prevention and fight against drug-related crimes, terrorism, illegal trade of arms, human trafficking, financial and banking crimes, high-tech crimes.

The conference has discussed and adopted important contents of the future vision and missions of ASEANAPOL, as well as considered about establishment of a committee on post-disaster victim identification and on-site investigation. Delegates also discussed the management of the ASEANAPOL Database (e-ADS), the possibility to remove the observer’s status of the ASEAN Wildlife Enforcement Network (ASEAN-WEN) and adoption of EUROPOL as a dialogue partner of ASEANAPOL.
At the conference, the Vietnamese delegation reiterated the country’s commitments to enhance cooperation with law enforcement forces of the ASEAN member countries and ASEAN’s partners in preventing and combating transnational crimes.

On the sidelines of the conference, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve met with the delegations of Japan, Canada, New Zealand and EUROPOL to exchange some views and promote bilateral cooperation between law enforcement forces of Vietnam and the parties.
At the closing session, the Chiefs of Police of the 10 ASEAN member countries signed a Joint Declaration, stressing the cooperation contents that the ASEANAPOL would implement in 2019.

Under the authority of the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve announced that the Vietnam Police Force will host the 39th ASEANAPOL in 2019, and extended invitations to Chiefs of Police of ASEAN countries and heads of delegations of dialogue partners and observers to the 39th ASEANAPOL.
