MPS asks all forces to intensify security and order work during FIFA World Cup 2018

MPS - Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam on June 14 sent a dispatch to leaders of General Departments, Commands, under-ministerial agencies and local police departments under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), asking all the forces to intensify prevention and combat against illegal activities during the FIFA World Cup 2018 with a focus on illegal motor races and illegal football pools of all types.

The dispatch reads:

Over the past time, public security agencies and units from the Central level to local have seriously and effectively implemented the directions from the Ministry on maintenance of security and order. However, the situation of security and order will possibly see complex developments, especially during the World Cup 2018 from June 14 to July 15. In order to effectively prevent law violations resulting from the football event, such as illegal motor races, football pools, gambling types and other gambling-related crimes, the leadership of the Ministry asks all public security agencies and units:

1. To take drastic measures to prevent and fight law violation activities based on the football tournament, including gambling activities, football pools, usury or “black credit”; to focus on controlling crimes of murder, robbery, theft, acts against persons on duty, deliberate injuries to other persons, fights between armed gangs.

2. To quickly develop and implement plans to deploy forces and means to prevent illegal motorbike races; to regulate the traffic to prevent large crowds of people and vehicles in the central area of localities that may be out of control.

3. To maintain forces on duty; to prepare sufficient forces and means to promptly and effectively respond to complicated situations emerging; to be ready to deploy forces in support of other local police units under the direction of the Ministry.
